2017 Mille Miglia: Italian landscapes and legendary cars for the recor

Timeless elegance, worldly teams of outliers, a scenic masterpiece represented by historic Italian landscapes and cities. The 90th birthday of the Mille Miglia ended in Brescia on Sunday with the victory of team #74 formed by Andrea Vesco and Andrea Guerini on board a 1931 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Sport. A memorable edition that exceeded all expectations.

An edition that will also go down in history for the all Italian final podium consisting of the duo Vesco-Guerini, who are the first ever to win the event for two years in a row. The second and third place went respectively to Luca Patron and Massimo Casale (team #5) on board a 1925 O.M. 665 Sport Superba 2000 and to Mantuan spouses Giordano Mozzi and Stefania Biacca on board an Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 GS Zagato. Finally, the “Coppa delle Dame” went to Maria and Luigia Gaburri on board a 1957 Abarth 750 GT Zagato with the number 414.

A race of yesteryear, the Mille Miglia, must be enjoyed through all senses. The adrenaline is in the air, you can feel it everywhere, mixed with the smell of leather driving gloves and car interiors and a hint of dust rising from the dirt roads...

...and motor oil of course, dense and pungent, there to almost remind us that these works of wonders are indeed beautiful to the eyes, but their mechanical heart was made to race. Driving them, understanding them, enjoying the breeze on your face during a straight line but also knowing how to get your hands dirty in order to fix something that is not working: this is what makes this passion so unique and exceptional!

The 2017 Mille Miglia started off in Brescia on Thursday May 18th, where cars returned on Sunday after a trip divided into four stages with arrivals in Padua, Rome and Parma.

The last stage took place on Sunday the 21st, with the finish line set in Piazza della Loggia between the applause from the audience and the overwhelming satisfaction from the participating crews, including the JD Classics teams, who chose to experience this great challenge wearing The Outlierman style.

In an event like the Mille Miglia, the beauty of the cars and landscapes enhance each other, transforming the parade into a moment of pure joy and wonder for all the participants and spectators. Designs and monuments blend into a masterpiece of art: we will never forget the beauty of passing through the narrow cobbled streets decorated with coats of arms in San Quirico d’Orcia.
