Back in Europe, we have made a list of the events dedicated to classic cars that we would not really miss. Do you want to know which ones?
Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance • September 2-4 • London, UK
"The rarest cars in the world, from all over the world." It’s the promise on the official website of Windsor Castle Concours of Elegance, the prestigious event that in 2016 will propose a special edition in honor of the ninetieth birthday of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
A concours that focuses on the excellent quality of the participating cars: only 60 models in the competition, carefully selected among the rarest ones ever built in the history of the four wheels. Aesthetic and technique jewels with a timeless charm that could be admired on the track during The Great West Tour, which will coincide with the concours for two days.
The 2016 Concours of Elegance will also host the RAC Club Trophy, the Jaguar Trophy and the Bentley Trophy of Elegance (which will have respectively 90 cars participating in the race, in honor of the 90 years of Elizabeth II) and many exceptional events such as a display of the most revolutionary cars built from 1926, the Queen’s birth year. All of this in the stunning surroundings of the Windsor Castle, exclusively granted for this royal edition, where are expected over 1000 astonishing cars.
Chantilly Arts & Elegance Richard Mille • September 4 • Chantilly, FR
The third edition of Chantilly Arts & Elegance Concours is going to be more impressive than ever, conceived and organized as an elegant journey through the past, present and future to gather the very best of motoring art in the shade of the princely Chantilly Castle.
Not one but three competitions will animate the schedule of the event: the Concours d'Etat, a wonderful open-air car museum reserved for collectors from all over the world; the Concours d'Elegance, where technology and design come together in the name of the famous French art de vivre; the Grand Prix des Clubs, which brings together the most iconic car of the last century, according to brand and nationality.
The show will also be guaranteed by the awaited Supercars Rally, designed to enhance and compare the most amazing Supercars and Ultracars produced from 1980 till today. The glamour and exclusivity of the event will be guaranteed by a rigorous dress code, which requires the right balance of elegance and eccentricity.
Goodwood Revival • September 9-11 • Goodwood, UK
The golden era of motoring legends will live again in all its glory during the three days of Goodwood Revival, where vintage dress-code is required and the historical taste assured.
Hundreds of rare and priceless cars, driven by past and present champions, will arrive at the spectacular Earl of March’s Estate in West Sussex to attend one of the last and most exciting wheel-to-wheel races in the world, defying the laws of speed to win one of the most desired trophies in vintage motorsport.
Tom Kristensen, Jean Alesi, David Coulthard, John McGuinness, Sir Chris Hoy, Giedo van der Garde and Jason Plato are just some of the great names of worldwide racing announced for the 2016 edition, which this year will celebrate Sir Jack Brabham, the only man in the history of F1 to win the title while driving a car bearing his name.
Gran Premio Nuvolari • September 16-18 • Several locations, IT
From Cremona to Brescia, through the long straights of the Po Valley to be covered at full speed on classic cars celebrating Tazio Nuvolari, went down in history as one of the greatest drivers of all time and described by Ferdinand Porsche as "the greatest pilot of the past, present and future".
The Gran Premio Nuvolari is a regularity competition reserved for classic cars. Introduced in 1991, the Nuvolari GP maintains unchanged the romance and authentic passion of an event created by the will of Mille Miglia organizers following the passing of the champion. To honor his memory, in fact, the traditional route of Mille Miglia has been modified in order to pass through Mantua, Nuvolari's birthplace.
At Gran Premio Nuvolari only cars manufactured between 1919 and 1969 are allowed. The route changes every year, with start and finish in Mantua, and is held for over 1000 km, reaching historic tracks like Varano and Imola racetracks or Montenero and Adriatic circuits, crossing cities such as Parma, Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, Rimini and Ferrara.
Cars and Coffee • September 24 • Turin, IT
The third of four exceptional Italian events by Cars and Coffee in 2016 has almost arrived. On September 24, we will be once again in Turin - the city that brought the American format in the “Bel Paese” - for an unforgettable edition with the participation of more than 200 wonders of 4 wheels including hypercars, supercars and prestigious historical cars.
Never change a winning program. The day offered by Cars and Coffee will proceed as usual with a morning gathering reserved for participants and their supercars, while in the afternoon the show will be opened to the public to celebrate the car passion in the name of a refined and convivial networking, in pure Italian style!
As usual, the second main event of the year by Cars and Coffee will allow us to relive the entire history of the car, from the milestones of the steering wheel to the latest automotive engineering innovations, for a "multi-brand and multi-era" event that always guarantees an evocative sequence of charm, design sophistication, technological progress... and an uncontrollable desire to get behind the steering wheel!
Dear Gentlemen, the schedule is rich and varied... Pack your bags and start your engines: it will be a long September full of emotions!
