We are delighted to announce the renewal of a partnership driven by a passion for classic cars: from September 27th to 29th, The Outlierman will once again be the style partner of the Concorso d'Eleganza Palazzo di Varignana 1705. This year, in the second edition of an event that promises to be even more fascinating, we have had the honor of curating and creating an exclusive collection of silk ties and scarves inspired by iconic cars that have left their mark on roads and catwalks around the world. This time, our designers have captured the essence of the Lancia Aurelia B24 Spider and the Ferrari 275 GTB Shortnose to create collectible pieces that, with their sophistication, celebrate not only these iconic cars but also a must-see event.

Immersed in the heart of the Motor Valley, among the hills of Bologna, a symphony of engines and design will thrill Palazzo di Varignana. The 2024 edition of the Concorso d'Eleganza Varignana 1705 will bring together enthusiasts, collectors, and above all, rare and beautiful vintage vehicles: over 30 cars built before 1973, coming from the garages of some of the most interesting and famous collectors in the world.
But let's go into more detail. The organizers of the Contest have planned 6 competition classes, including "Before the storm", "Excellences from Zuffenhausen", "Legends of the Motor Valley" and "British postcards". Eloquent titles that suggest a competition between true design and style champions. But that's not all, there is also a special "Out of Competition" class, which will feature the only existing example of the famous Auto Avio Costruzioni 815.

To judge them, a jury of seven internationally renowned critics and experts: Stefano Pasini, president of the jury and well-known author of over 30 books on the automobile; Stephen Bayley, architect, writer and contributor to Octane magazine; Alessandra Giorgetti, vice president of the International Touring Superleggera Register; François Melcion, director of Retromobile Paris; Gianni Mercatali, legendary leader in communication and luxury entrepreneurship; Adolfo Orsi, automotive historian and heir to the Maserati family, and Peter Read, president of the Royal Automobile Club's motoring committee.
As in the first edition last year, the 2024 edition of Concorso d'Eleganza Varignana 1705 has attracted numerous collectors, demonstrating how the event is now firmly established on the global automotive calendar. Among the most well-known collectors we will find Silvia Nicolis at the wheel of a 1914 Benz 8/20PS Jadewagen and Corrado Lopresto with a 1947 Isotta Fraschini 8C Monterosa Coupe Touring (one of only five prototypes built by Isotta Fraschini between 1947 and 1959).

And again, of great interest will be the 1966 Lamborghini Miura prototype belonging to the German collector Dr. Gebhard, one of the most historically important models in the history of the House of the Bull and among the first supercars; the 1972 De Tomaso Pantera Gruppo 4 racing car owned by Pietro Silva, which won the Italian GT Championship and the Giro Automobilistico d'Italia in 1973; the 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C 1750 Gran Turismo owned by Umberto and Alice Galloni, bodied by the legendary James Young Limited; the 1950 Fiat 1100 Ghia owned by Hidetomo Kimura, arriving from faraway Japan; a 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC; a 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB4; a Maserati 3500 Vignale Spyder and a Mercedes 300 SL Roadster.
And then there are three jewels from the Stuttgart brand: a 1955 Porsche Speedster Pre-A, a 1973 Carrera RS 2.7 and a 1955 Porsche Speedster belonging to Alessandro Squarzi. While a 1925 Bugatti Type 35 and a 1925 Bentley 3-Litre will fuel the eternal debate about the most iconic car of the Twenties.
