For many people Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance is synonymous with exclusivity and elegance: the most prestigious global event dedicated to unique and rare classic cars, real masterpieces of style and mechanics.
To me, Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance means much more than that. My trip to California began in March when, along with my designers team and the organizers of the event, we created the limited edition Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance tie and bow tie by The Outlierman. From that moment on, the countdown to August 21 has been a sequence of challenges and emotions, brainstormings and preparations, with an increasing excitement that has made not only the event but also the whole preceding period an exceptional and unforgettable experience.
The Outlierman made his debut in Pebble Beach a few days before the main event of the Monterey Car Week. From Thursday to Saturday, in fact, we participated in the exclusive RetroAuto with an exhibition stand displaying all our collections. Hosted by the beautiful Spanish Bay Inn Hotel, we had the pleasure to show and share our passion for classic cars and style with many collectors from all over the world.
The Concours d'Elegance is the peak of a week full of events. Among them, the Gala d'Elegance is the one that I’ll never forget, during which I had the honor and pleasure of sitting next to Sir Stirling Moss and his lovely wife Susie, who entertained me with wonderful stories about the passion for cars and the love that have accompanied them for almost 40 years.
Event after event, Sunday arrived quickly: the day of Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance. In the morning the sun wasn’t shining, but I prepared myself to live a special day anyway, and I was right to do so. Upon arriving at the entrance of The Lodge, I immediately felt the vibe of a genuine passion around me, in an explosion of elegance coming not only from the cars on display, but also from the style of the Gentlemen attending the event. A glorification of beauty and refinement that has literally filled my eyes.
I hope that the pictures would be able to make you perceive the emotion that you feel walkling between the most unique cars in the world, on a wonderful golf course next to the Pacific Ocean... Pebble Beach is really a suggestive location!
Besides cars, my eyes were also turned towards blue... the color of the limited edition Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance ties and bow ties by The Outlierman. It took me just a little time to realize that the tie I was wearing, and so proudly designed, that day was on the neck of most of the competition judges as well as some of the participants.
Illustrious names in the world of cars, but not only that: Jackie Ickx, Valentino Balboni, Nick Mason, Jochen Mass, Filippo Perini, Edsel Fords, spokesmen for a passion who have been asked to evaluate unique cars.
The Italian style won even in the context of the competition, winning the Best of Show award with a 1936 Lancia Astura Pinin Farina Cabriolet and the trophy for the most elegant closed car with an Alfa Romeo Giulietta Sprint Speciale, a prototype from the Lopresto collection.
When you live an unordinary experience such as this one, it always seems that time flies away too quickly. But every single moment of our Californian adventure is imprinted on my mind, accompanied by a whole album of shots that will allow me to relive it whenever I want.
However, I haven’t forgotten about you: here is a selection of pictures of "our" Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, waiting for the 2017 edition and the many innovations that it will give to the Gentlemen Drivers from all over the world.
