In order to understand the connection there is between Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini more fully, I spent a day and a half between Bologna, Sant’Agata and the Modena motor-racing circuit.
Roger Dubuis is synonymous with exclusivity and uniqueness, exactly like the experience provided by these two great brands: a tour around the Lamborghini Factory where I had the pleasure of discovering, up close, how cars like the Huracan and the Aventador are created and, something particularly rare, the possibility to take some photos of their astounding “heart”.
The Aventador S is one of the elements of the partnership between the two brands, with the calibre of the new collection of watches inspired directly by this car’s engine. In order to bring it to life, the two teams brought together not only their creative talent, but also materials with exceptional performance, such as the multi-layered carbon and C-SMC carbon used for the on-board technology of the Lamborghinis.
“When visionary engineers meet imaginative watchmakers... success comes to the podium”. With this phrase which elucidates the collaboration between the two brands, the CEO of Lamborghini Stefano Domenicali and the CEO of Roger Dubuis Jean-Marc Pontroué welcomed the guests to the sumptuous dinner within the Lamborghini assembly line which rounded off the day.
An evening full of emotions thanks to the presentation of the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo and to the performance of an extraordinary opera singer, which made my dinner with a view of the Huracan on the assembly line really memorable.
When you experience days like these, you understand perfectly that it is the quality of the experience that defines the real value of time. Everything was exceptional: the food, the people, the cars which are effectively great masterpieces of design, in exactly the same way as the Excalibur Giallo Orion which captivated my wrist for the whole evening, a perfect expression of my “driving attitude”.
The following morning, I was again able to fill up on adrenalin on board the Aventador S and the Huracan Performante at the Modena Motor-racing circuit. An ideal occasion for wearing the driving gloves matching the two cars, first in yellow then in orange in perfect combination with the Arancio Argos, second colour of the Excalibur Aventador S.
Between driving laps and moments of entertainment, I was able to enjoy this experience to the full in every little detail: absolutely, because it is precisely in the attention to these minimal details that I found the true beauty and superior class of both the watch collection and the partnership which brought them to life.
At the end of this adventure, what sticks in my mind and what I appreciate more than anything else is the capacity of Roger Dubuis and Lamborghini to be daring. Their ability to dare, to explore and to create new opportunities which go beyond the ordinary… It’s that very same essence of being an Outlier: the word which has also been the identity of our brand of style right from the outset.
